Yahoo email not working on MS outlook
Get your Yahoo account ready.
Set up your Yahoo account so that Outlook can connect to it.
If you have two-step verification enabled on your Yahoo account, this is the
first step.
ARE
TWO-STEP VERIFICATION OPTIONS AVAILABLE? APP PASSWORD GENERATION
Create a Yahoo Mail app password if your Yahoo account is
protected with two-step verification. When configuring Outlook, you'll use this
app password instead of your Yahoo Mail sign-in password.
ARE THERE
NO TWO-STEP VERIFICATIONS?
Set your account to allow email clients to access it using
your Yahoo account sign-in password if you don't use two-step verification to
secure your Yahoo Mail account (and you don't want to enable it).
1. Log into
your Yahoo Mail account.
2. Select your profile name in the upper-right
area of the web page, then Account Info.
3. Select
Account Security from the drop-down menu.
4. Choose
Generate app password from the drop-down menu.
5. From the
drop-down option, choose the version of Outlook you want to use. Outlook iOS,
Outlook Android, and Outlook Desktop are all options.
6. Press the Generate button.
7. The
password key and instructions for using it show in a window.
In
Microsoft 365, Outlook 2019, and Outlook 2016, set up Yahoo Mail. It only takes
a few minutes to add your Yahoo Mail account to Outlook for Microsoft 365,
Outlook 2019, and Outlook 2016.
1. Select File
from the drop-down menu.
2. Go to Info,
then Accounts, and finally Add Account.
3. Select
Connect after entering your Yahoo Mail address.
4. Enter the
password for your app.
5. Click the
Connect button. Outlook has been updated to include your Yahoo Mail account.
6. In Outlook
2013 and Outlook 2010, set up Yahoo Mail.
7. Adding
Yahoo Mail accounts to Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010 follows a similar
procedure. The process in Outlook 2013 is depicted in the screenshots below.
Outlook 2010 has somewhat different screens, but the menus, settings, and
workflow are all the same.
8. Choose a
file.
9. Go to Info,
then Accounts, and finally Add Account.
10. Select
Manual configuration or more server types, then Next.
11. Select
either Pop or IMAP, then Next.
12. Select IMAP
from the Account Type drop-down arrow in the Server Information section.
13. Enter your
name in the User Information section.
14. In the
Incoming mail server text box, type imap.mail.yahoo.com in the Server
Information section. Enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com in the Outgoing mail server
(SMTP) text box.
15. The User
Name text box in the Login Information section displays the user name
associated with your Yahoo Mail address. If necessary, correct this
information. If your account uses two-step verification, go to the Password text
box and input the app password you generated.
16. Click on
More Options.
17. Select the
My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box, then Use similar
settings as my incoming mail server on the Outgoing Server page.
18. Select the
Advanced option.
19. Select SSL
from the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down arrow for
both the incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) servers.
20. Enter 993
in the Incoming server (IMAP) text box.
21. Enter 465
in the Outgoing server (SMTP) text box.
22. Return to
the Pop and IMAP Account Settings window by selecting OK.
23. Next should
be selected. This will put your account settings to the test. Both are finished
successfully if everything is correct.
24. Close the
window.
